Abstract
624,284. Generating combustion products 'under pressure. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. June 26, 1947, No. 16897. Convention date, July 1, 1946. [Class 51 (i)] In the combustion chamber of a gas turbine plant means is provided for atomising any liquid fuel deposited on the chamber walls. An annular combustion chamber is defined by frusto-conical walls 31, 32 and fuel is injected by nozzles 37. Downstream of the nozzles, liquid fuel collecting rings 41, 42 are provided. Each is formed to provide an annular trough 46, Fig. 4, in which deposited liquid fuel collects. Pressure air enters through holes 48 and atomises the fuel by driving it through holes 47 in the base of the trough.. Other air passing through holes 50 cools the downstream side of the rings.
