Abstract
623,652. Machine framings. BECH, J. Dec. 20, 1946, No. 37532. Convention date, Oct. 5, 1943. [Class 83 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXIV] The square-section guide rod 1 carrying the cutter head of a milling or like machine is slidable relative to a casing 2 which carries sets of rollers (e.g. the set comprising the two rollers 8 and the roller 12) bearing against opposite sides of the rod, the sets being arranged so that all four faces of the guide rod are engaged, and one or more of the rollers in each set being adjustable relative to the rod. Adjustable rollers 11, 12 are preferably fitted midway between the positions of pairs of fixed rollers 7, 8, as shown in Figure 2. An adjustable roller, such as 20, Fig. 3, may be mounted on ball bearings 19 on eccentric portions 18 of a bush 14 that can be rotated by a spindle 13 having a groove engaged by a U-shaped driver 15 fitted in holes in the bush. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the guide rod may be of triangular or polygonal section. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
