[Class 119] A bipod support for a firearm comprises a spring-loaded member 5 which has two sets of locking faces 8, 9, for holding the legs 4 in their open and collapsed positions respectively. The member 5 shown is slidably mounted in the hollow part 2 of a sleeve 1 on the barrel A, and its surfaces 8, 9 constitute the faces of two intersecting pyramids which co-operate with faces on the upper ends 4<SP>11</SP> of the legs. The legs are pivoted to the part 2 and can be thinned or closed by pressure sufficient to overcome the force of the spring 7 acting on the member 5.
