[Class 136 (ii)] In a back pedalling hub brake comprising a driving member adapted to be brought alternatively into driving engagement with the hub or in braking engagement with the anchor member, a set of brake discs 23 is slidably but non- rotatably mounted on the anchor member 4 and a second set of brake discs 25 is interposed between the first set and slidably but non-rotatably mounted on the hub 13, both sets of discs being adapted to be brought into operative contact by a thrust member 19 equipped with means 22, providing a non-rotatable connection of the thrust and anchor members, and co-operating with the first set of brake discs. The discs 23 are splined to the anchor member by keys 22 slidably fitting in openings 24 in the discs and seated at their ends in recesses 18, 21 formed in the anchor and thrust members respectively. The driving member is formed by a screw shaft 12 journalled on the axle 1 and equipped with a nut 27 provided with clutch elements 29 adapted to co-operate with corresponding clutch elements 31 on the thrust member 19. The nut 27 and thrust member are frictionally connected by a drag ring 32. The discs 34, 35 may be frusto-conical in form as in Fig. 3.
