Abstract
621,878. Hydraulic machines ; manuallyactuated valves. NUFFIELD MECHANIZATIONS, Ltd., and MERRITT, H. E. Aug. 21, 1946, No. 24870. [Classes 69 (ii) and 135] The supply of pressure liquid to the power cylinders 15, 16 of the forward and rear implements respectively of an agricultural tractor is controlled by piston valves F, R, slidable in bores in a block 4 having inlet and exhaust ports 24, and 5, 6, 27 respectively, and ports 22, 23 connected to the cylinders, and operable through links 9, 10 by a hand-lever 12, the link 9 having ball ends engaging the heads of the valves. The valve R is releasably held in either of its end positions by a spring-loaded ball engaging either of the grooves 17, 18 in the valve. As shown, the pump 1 discharges straight through the valve block from the port 24 to the port 27. In operation, movement of the lever 12 from the position shown to the vertical one, moves the valve F upwards to open the cylinder 15 to the pressure liquid and raise the forward implement. Further movement of the lever towards the right results in the cylinder 16 also being opened to pressure liquid and raising of the rear implement. Return movement of the lever towards the vertical opens the cylinder 15 to exhaust past the chamfered upper end 21 of the valve F and the port 5, while further movement of the lever to the first position also opens the cylinder 16 to exhaust through the port 6, thus lowering the implements in turn. In a modification, the spring-loaded ball is replaced by a spring- loaded block which bears against a flat on the valve R.
