Abstract
621,127. Forcing liquids by liquid pressure. BYWATER, D. March 21, 1946, No. 8817. [Class 102(ii)] Apparatus for storing and dispensing carbon bisulphide or other liquid heavier than water comprises a tank 1 in which the carbon bisulphide 2 is stored beneath water 3 which is connected to a pipe 9 and static head tank 8. The carbon bisulphide is discharged through the pipe 6 and the pipes 6 and 9 are fitted with float valves 11, 12 respectively that float in water and sink in carbon bisulphide and prevent carbon bisulphide and water entering the pipes 9 and 6 respectively. Carbon bisulphide is forced into the tank 1 through a pipe 18 from a container that is connected with the pipe 9 through a pipe 21 and valve 17. The connection between the pipe 9 and the tank 1 is closed by a valve 10 and the water in tank 1 is connected to drain by a valve 26 so that water admitted to the container forces carbon bisulphide into the tank 1 through pipe 18. The tank is fitted with a float indicator 16 and an indicator 27 is fitted to the pipe 18 to indicate whether water or carbon bisulphide is entering the tank 1. Specification 518,346 is referred to.
