Abstract

An electrically conducting refractory composition comprising primarily stannic oxide contains a small amount, preferably equivalent to at least 0.5 per cent UO2, of a compound containing uranium. Part of the stannic oxide may be replaced by zircon, and a small amount, preferably about 0.5 per cent, of a compound of copper, silver, gold, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel or zinc may be added as shrinkage agent.
