Abstract
619,771. Thermionic valves. HIVAC, Ltd., and DIGGLE, H. March 21, 1946, No. 8835. [Class 39 (i)] A thermionic valve comprises a flat filament mounting, at least one flat grid 11, and at least one anode 15, assembled by a simple stacking process of laying one electrode on top of another in a. jig with interleaved frames 10, 14 of insulating material between the electrodes ; anode extensions 16 are made to hold the assembly in place and may be bent over to embrace the assembly. The electrodes other than the filament may be of V or U-shape. The filament may be constructed as described in Specification 619,136 and carries a frame 8 for the getter material; the grid may be constructed as described in Specification 619,770, [Group XXII]. The anode 15 is preferably narrower than the frame 14 to leave an opening for the escape of gas trapped between the electrodes. The spacers 10, 14 may be of mica or ceramic material. The electrodes may be arranged as two valve systems, one on each side of the cathode.
