Abstract
619,759. Ground-anchors. SMITH, H. HOWARD-. Dec. 21, 1944, No. 11245. [Class 45] [Also in Groups X and XXX] In equipment for erecting a prefabricated building in which lifting means are adapted to traverse runways supported upon an overhead framework (see Group XXX), the pillars supporting the overhead framework are hinged in socketed base members. As described, a base member 31 forms a socket into which the lower end of a pillar may be inserted whilst the pillar is horizontal, said lower end being engaged therein by a bolt 33 which acts as a fulcrum when the pillar is subsequently raised to a vertical position. The bolt is-slidably carried by slots 35 in side cheeks of the socket to provide clearance between the base of the pillar and the walls of the socket whilst the pillar is being raised, and also to permit vertical adjustment to allow for differences of ground level, the bolt finally acting as securing means.
