[Class 89 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A pipe 5 is secured in a socket 3 by a nut screwing on to the socket and having at its outer end an internal flange or lip 4 inclined away from the outer end of the nut so that in abutting against the end face of the socket it is deformed radially inwards to deform and grip the pipe. The flange may have sharp edges or the edge contacting the pipe may be flat or rounded. The end face of the socket may be flat or conical and its bore may be tapered or partly tapered and partly cylindrical.
