Abstract
619,680. Packaging-machines. TRIGGS, W. W. (Betner Co., B. C.). March 29, 1946, No. 9869. [Class 94 (i)] In an auger type of packaging machine having mechanism for rotating the auger at a constant speed driven by a constant speed motor, the mechanism lies above the level of the discharge of the auger and is contained in a housing sealed against the ingress of foreign material. As shown an adjustable support 10 for the package 12 is situated below an auger 18 in a spout 16 which is supplied with pulverulent material from a hopper 20. The auger is rotated for a predetermined number of revolutions by a clutch and gearing 30 in a dust proof cover 206, the clutch being engaged by operation of a foot lever 1431 and automatically disengaged. The auger shaft may also carry agitators 176 operating in the hopper. The constant speed motor 32 driving the gearing may also be enclosed by the cover. The gearing, in which all the shafts are parallel to the auger shaft is described with reference to Fig. 4 (not shown).
