Abstract
619,582. Wall ties. COOPER, W. E. Dec. 13, 1946, No. 36841. [Class 20(iv)] Slabs 10, 11 of a double skin wall are spaced by ties comprising a bolt, rod or tube 12 of which one end is embedded in one slab and the other protrudes through an aperture 19 in a slot of the other skin to which it is secured by clamping plates 22, 23. Plates 22 are secured on to a threaded portion 14 of the tie against nuts 24, and plates 23 have a thickened centre 25 which also screws on to the tie so as to be received in a recess 20 until the plate engages shoulders 21. Notches 27 and apertures in the plate enable cement or other grout to be forced into the cavity. Instead of the tie being cast in a slab a threaded socket may be cast therein, a tie being screwed into the socket when required. Specification 603,478 is referred to
