Abstract

618,822. Rope railways. KING, Ltd., G. W., and KING, D. M. Nov. 11, 1946, No. 33506. [Class 104 (ii)] In a rope. railway system wherein a driving chain 13 carries abutments 12 engaging the cars 11, the chain is, at junctions, raised to disengage the cars on the main track 10 by means actuated by a car on the branch track 16. The chain 13 is supported by trolleys 14 running on a track 15 and the chain is raised by a ramp 17 lowered by one end of a lever 18 when the other end 20 is lifted by a car approaching the main track. The ramp is raised clear of the trolleys 14 by the weight of the arm 20 which may be assisted by one or more springs. When a car 11 on the main track is stopped, means may be provided to stop following cars or the conveyer itself.
