Abstract
617,838. Electric fires. CROSSLAND, A. G., and COCKSEDGE, F. M. Oct. 11, 1946, No. 30377. [Class 39 (iii)] In an electric fire having one or more reflectors with associated elements and electric lamps, each reflector is formed with steps adapted to present different sets of reflecting surfaces to rays incident from the heating elements and the lamps respectively. In an example, one or more lamps e are arranged along one or each longitudinal edge of a reflector a so as to shine through a coloured translucent screen f and on to stepped portions h of the reflector, the remaining parts g being adapted to reflect heat from an element b. A forwardly extended part i of the reflector reflects light on to the stepped portions h of the opposite half when lamps are arranged along one side only. In a modification, Fig. 1 (not shown), only the half of the reflector adjacent the lamps is stepped, the other being of plain parabolic section to reflect both heat and light rays. The surface of the reflector may be smooth, fluted, hammered or dimpled and a guard member c may also act to reflect light.
