Abstract

616,617. Automatic firearms. BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES SOC. ANON. Sept. 11, 1946, No. 27301. Convention date, Aug. 13. [Class 92 (ii)] A ramp 22 associated with the trigger mechanism of an automatic firearm and serving to control the movements of a breech-block retaining lever 15 pivoted on a part secured to a recoiling barrel 11, is movable from an extreme position parallel to the direction of the recoil movement of the barrel, to a second extreme position forming with this direction an angle A of which the apex is located in advance of the active part of the ramp. As shown, the ramp 22 is formed on an arm 23 of a lever whose other arm is connected by a rod 27 to a piston 29 working in a cylinder 30. This cylinder is secured to an operating rod 28 and in the cylinder is a spring 31 which bears on the piston 29. On pulling the rod 28, the lever moves away from a fixed stop 32 on the cradle 14 to a position bearing on the underside of the breech casing 10 which is secured to the barrel. In so moving, the lever rocks the lever 15, thus withdrawing a sear 17 on the lever from a recess 19 in the breech-block 12. The rod 28 is pushed forwards to stop firing, but need move the ramp through only a small angle, less than angle A, for the sear to engage in the recess 19. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also modified ways of pivoting the member 23 or guiding it in the cradle. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
