Abstract
616,609. Meshing-screw pump. CRAAF, G. A. VAN DER. Sept. 10, 1946, No. 2711 Convention date, May 21, 1942. [Class 110 (ii)] A vacuum, or other type, gas pump comprises two or more meshing screws on parallel shafts 16, in which the pitch and/or depths of the threads diminishes from the suction to the delivery. Gas enters through an inlet 6 and is delivered through ports in end caps 17. Intermediate pressures at pipes 9, 12, are adjusted to give the designed pressure ratios over the sections 3, 4, 5 of the screws. Each pair of pipes 10, 101 or 13, 13<1> leads to a chamber 11 or 14 provided with two non-return valves, which may open alternately to either release gas to atmosphere, or admit atmospheric air to maintain the pressure in the chamber at a desired figure. The ratios of the thread pitch reductions of the sections 3, 4, 5 are stated to be 2 : 1¢ : 1. Gas is delivered into end chambers by way of ports 18<1>. Sealing fluid is admitted through openings 30, 30<1> and is deposited in a curved receptacle 29 formed between the bearings of the two shafts. Specification 419,338 is referred to.
