Abstract
616,007. Burners. SEGRAVE, C. R., WILLIAMS, T. B. GLYNNE-, and BARKER, H. H. Aug. 8, 1946, No. 23485. [Class 75 (i)] In a device for heating air or fluids, comprising a combustion chamber heated by a liquid fuel or gas burner and surrounded by an outer part or casing between which and the combustion chamber the air or fluid to be heated is caused to pass, an inlet aperture 10 for the primary air is formed in the walls of the burner head 2, two secondary air inlets 11 are formed at diametrically opposed points in the end 6 of the combustion chamber 1, a part helical baffle plate 12 over the aperture 10 imparts a swirling motion to the primary air, and part helical baffle plates 13 over the inlets 11 impart a swirling motion in the opposite direction to the secondary air. Liquid fuel may be supplied through a plurality of jets, each jet being controlled by an independent cock as well as by a common control cock. The fuel cocks may consist of electrically controlled solenoid valves and may be coupled to magnetically controlled shutters fitted to the secondary air inlets 11, so that the ratio of the fuel and secondary air may be maintained constant. Specification 616,006, [Group XIII], is referred to.
