Abstract

615,672. Endless-chain conveyers. TIMSONS, Ltd., and TIMSON, E. A. May 8, 1946, No. 13923. [Class 78 (i)] Mechanism for conveying sheet, filamentous and like materials comprising a pair of adjacently disposed endless conveyers 1, 2 having at least one pair of grippers periodically brought into co-operative relationship is combined with mechanism for cutting the material into shorter lengths for conveyance by the grippers. Grippers 9 are connected to the top conveyer 1 and consist of a bar 10 extending across the chains 11 and supporting an element 12 having a yielding pad 13 co-operating with a resilient roller gripper 16 extending between the chains 18 of the bottom conveyer 2. The cutting mechanism comprises a pair of co-operating cylinders 21, 22 having gaps 23 to receive the grippers 9, 16. One cylinder is fitted with a knife and the other supports the material. Longitudinal stationary bars 19, 20 are provided to hold the grippers firmly together for the full extent of their conjoint travel.
