615,517. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. LOVESEY, A. C., and PARRY, J. F. W. Sept. 6, 1944, No. 17037. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXVII] Means for adjusting the stroke of a fuel pump of an internal-combustion engine in accordance with induction-manifold pressure, temperature and exhaust back-pressure is combined with mechanism operable by speed variation for adjusting such means to compensate for variations in volumetric efficiency of the engine and/or the pump. An engine-driven governor 25 loads the spring 22 of a servomotor piston 17 and through a rack and pinion 27, 28 rocks a cam 29 against which the fulcrum 5 of a lever 4 is held by a spring 31. The other end of the lever 4 is connected to a second servomotor piston 3 which is subjected, through a passage 15, to the intake pipe pressure, and loaded by a spring 11 having an abutment which is adjusted by the action on a diaphragm 12 of the combined action of the exhaust pressure transmitted through a passage 16 and of a capsule 14 connected to a temperature bulb in the intake pipe. The lever 4 varies the setting of a rod 1 which controls the stroke of an engine-driven fuel pump and the shape of the cam 29 is selected to compensate for variations in volumetric effidiency of the pump and/or engine at varying speeds.
