Abstract

615,382. Tube connectors. WILLMOTT, A. R. Aug. 6, 1946, Nos. 23337/46 and 1834/47. [Class 99 (i)] A flexible tubular connection for use with portable gas apparatus such as gas irons, rings, and the like, is similar to that described in Specification 376,962, but has an outer flexible connector sleeve so that the connection can be pushed on to a gas fitting; it is also adapted for a screwed connection. Fig. 2 shows a tube composed of an inner helical component 3 and an outer flexible component 5 fitted with a metallic sleeve 1 and an outer connector sleeve 9. The helical component may be a force fit or screwed fit into (as shown) or on to the sleeve 1. The outer connector sleeve 9 is doubly tapered externally, and is of such internal diameter that it has to be forced into the position shown. The connector sleeve projects beyond the end part 8 of the metal sleeve so that it can be used as a push-on connector. The sleeve is internally threaded at the end 8 so that it can be used with a screwed metal fitting 11 if it is desired to have a metal-to-metal connection.
