615,343. Sliding-clasp fasteners. S.P.A. LAVORAZIONE MATERIE PLASTICHE. May 2, 1946, No. 13332. Convention date, July 7, 1943. [Class 44] [Also in Group V] A sliding-clasp fastener of thermoplastic comprises nib and socket parts having interengaging undercut teeth, fastening and unfastening being allowed by the elastic deformation of the material. Fig. 1 shows the profile of the nib member 1 and Fig. 2 shows the nib and socket in engagement. The socket 4 comprises side walls 5 held together by the base part 7 which is formed with teeth of the same height as the side walls. The stringers 8 are integral with the other parts. Both parts are made simultaneously and continuously in an extrusion machine having dies for the two parts on either side of a continuous band having teeth on its edges. The band is guided in the machine and the fastener parts are removed from it by traction when the material is still hot.
