Abstract
614,189. Fireworks. OWENS, R. D. J., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 5, 1946, No. 20151. [Class 9 (ii)] " Sparklers " are produced by a method in which a powder composition containing metal powders and oxidizing and reducing agents is mixed with a thermoplastic binding agent comprising nitro-cellulose plasticised with a non-volatile plasticiser and the resultant mixture is extruded as a hot dough on a metal wire. In one example given, the plasticisers are dibutyl phthalate and diphenylamine. Part of this dough is put in a Werner-Pfleiderer and the oxidizing agents potassium nitrate and barium nitrate, the reducing agents charcoal and antimony sulphide, and aluminium powder, are added. The plastic mixture formed is rolled into sheets, cut into strips and extruded around a central copper wire.
