[Class 52 (v)] A stair-carpet fastener comprises an attachment plate with two vertically aligned tubes of non- circular bore and a clamping bracket having a lug of similar bore, which lug is fitted between the tubes and connected thereto by a pin of crosssection complementary to the bore. The attachment plate 1 is placed against a riser and projections 9, 10 on it driven into the tread. The lug 5, of square bore, on the clamping bracket 6 is then placed between square-bored tubes 2, 3 on the attachment plate, projections 11, 12 fitting into corresponding recesses in the tubes, and held there by a square pin 7. The clamping bracket has an inwardly bent rim 13 which clamps the carpet against the riser and an outwardly bent lower end which follows the sloping . line of the carpet. Instead of right and left clamping brackets a strip of metal may extend across the carpet, and the bracket may comprise a rectangular wire loop with the lug 5 attached.
