Abstract

Steel wool soap contains a proportion of soda in order to prevent rust formation upon the steel wool, together with a proportion of an alkali metal silicate, such as waterglass, in order to prevent during use the corrosion of certain metals, such as aluminium, copper and brass, by means of the soda present. The steel wool soap may also contain a proportion of an alkali metal phosphate. The compositions contain water and in an example, the latter contains a small proportion of methylcellulose.ALSO:Steel wool soap contains a proportion of soda in order to prevent rust formation upon the steel work, together with a proportion of an alkali metal silicate, such as waterglass, in order to prevent during use the corrosion of certain metals, such as aluminium, copper and brass, by means of the soda present. The steel wool soap may also contain a proportion of an alkali metal phosphate. The compositions contain water and in an example the latter contains a small proportion of methylcellulose.
