Abstract
612,985. Electrically - propelled vehicles; mounting batteries. BOASE, W. P. June 13, 1946, No. 17680. [Class 79 (iii)] [Also in Group XXX] In a self-propelled electricallydriven truck carrying a crane (see Group XXX), the crane jib 8 is pivotally mounted at 9 on a superstructure 5 which is detachably secured on the chassis 1 by clamps 6 and the winch drum 16 for the hoisting cable 17a is driven through a coupling 11 and reduction gearing by an electric motor 10. Batteries in a receptacle 3 supply current to the motor 10 and also to the truckpropelling motor. Ready access to these batteries is afforded by screw jacks provided at each end of the front girder 4 of the superstructure 5. When access to the cover panel of the battery receptacle is desired, the front clamps 6 are loosened and the jacks operated so as to raise the longitudinal girders of the superstructure 5 and relieve the panel from the weight of the superstructure.
