Abstract
611,695. Cutting-out presses: splitting- apparatus for leather &c. VERHOEVEN, J. C. L. May 6, 1946, No. 13714. Convention date, July 8, 1944. [Class 31(i)] Thin articles such as stiffeners of boots &c. are formed by a shaped stamping punch 3 which forces the stamped-out part 8 through a die aperture in a table 1, and the part 8 is split or is bevelled or otherwise shaped by a cutting operation which is effected by motion across the die aperture of a slide carrying a spring-pressed roller 6, which maintains the part 8 in contact with the die, and a cutter 7 which cuts off all' parts of the stamped out article which project below the plane in which the cutter slides. In front of the roller 6 is a plate 5 which during the stamping operation prevents the part 8 from falling through the die aperture. The shaped article 8 may be finally ejected by a cam-operated arcshaped ejector 9. Buttons having bevelled edges may be produced, or soles may be split by the apparatus.
