[Class 17(ii)] A flexible clog sole comprises a base 1 in a peripheral groove 2 around the edge of which the upper may be secured by nails or staples. The lower face of the base and its side edges are covered with rubber or other material 3. The sole is made flexible either by the character of the base or where, as is preferably the case, the base is of wood, this is split into sections l' between which the rubber covering of the sole may be pressed in a moulding process, as shown at 3<1>. Other anchorages for the coating to the base may be made at heel and toe ends of the sole by forming slots in the base at these localities.
