Abstract

610,461. Drying printed webs. HALLEY & SONS, Ltd.. J., and HALLEY, A. M. April 6, 1946, No. 10654. [Class 100(ii)] In a rotary machine for printing on metallic foil or plastic film, a heated drying drum A, over which the material passes, is cradled on and frictionally driven from one or more of a set of cradling wheels or discs B. The constant peripheral speed of the drum A is therefore independent of any change in the diameter of the drum caused by heat expansion and coincides with the speed of the web D. As shown, two pairs of wheels B are mounted on parallel shafts C.
