Abstract

609,829. Liquid passing by gas pressure. SOLVAY & CIE. Jan. 14, 1946, No. 1292. Convention date, June 8, 1942. [Class 102 (ii)] In a process for transferring liquefied gases from a reservoir 1 to a receiving container 9, the liquid is subjected to an increase of temperature and pressure before passing into an intermediate tank 6, whence it passes to the receiver 9 under the influence of the pressure difference between the tank 6 and the container 9 occasioned by the liquid being cooled in transit in a coil 10. The pressure to which the liquid is subjected is increased from 1 atmosphere at the reservoir 1 to 8 or 9 atmospheres at the tank 6 by means of a pump 3 and a heater 5, which latter also serves to increase the temperature of the liquid from - 34‹ C. at the reservoir 1 to 40‹ C. at the tank 6. The heater 5 is a coil surrounded by and in heat exchange relationship with a thermostatically controlled vat of an auxiliary liquid. Member 4 is a non-return valve and members 7, 8 are safety pressure relief devices.
