Abstract

608,051. Agricultural implements. JOPSON, F. J. Dec. 13, 1945, No. 33746. [Class 6(i)] In a cultivating machine having rotary tines 30, a screen causes the coarse material to be returned to the depression formed by the tines and to be covered subsequently by the finer material which passes through the screen. The tines, driven from the landwheels 9 are mounted on a main frame 1 pivotally attached to a drawbar 2, a screwed shaft 4 and handle 5 being provided to vary the working depth of the tines. The screen comprises side members 33 between which bars and a comb 37 are mounted. Side arms 32 have on their inner sides, discs 40 to which is secured the screen; holes being provided so that the angle of tilt may be varied. Holes in the side members 33 allow the screen to be raised or lowered relative to the main frame. The side arms 32 are mounted on frame 1. holes 43 being provided for adjustment. Each set of tines comprises five V-shaped bars fixed by bolts 28 between discs 26. One limb of each tine is provided with a set screw 29 for adjusting the tension between adjacent bars. The tines are disengaged from the land wheels by gearwheel 19 which is moved out of mesh by lever 23 and the landwheels are provided with differential clutches. A motor may be mounted on the machine for rotating the shafts and propelling the machine.
