Abstract
Ammonium sulphate is prepared in aqueous solution by reacting under pressures of up to 10 atmospheres and at elevated temperatures, preferably 100-130 DEG C., ammonia, carbondioxide and the sulphate of a metal which under the reaction conditions forms an insoluble carbonate. Finely-ground calcium sulphate in the form of the mineral anhydrite or gypsum is specified. Specification 282,755, [Class 1 (ii)], is referred to.
