Abstract
606,410. Fluid-actuated valves. NEALE, F. Feb. 13, 1946, No. 4429. [Class 135] In a fluid-pressure control valve, the supply of pressure fluid to a chamber 17, connected to a fluid-pressureoperated device, e.g. a compressed air brake, is regulated by an inlet valve member 10, actuated by a valve lifter 22 having spherically-shaped ends, one of which co-operates with a seating surrounding an exhaust passage 15<SP>1</SP> in a piston 15 to control the exhaust of fluid from the chamber. The lifter 22 is freely and resiliently mounted in a recess in the inlet valve member, and thus has limited freedom of movement in all directions to allow for misalignment of the piston and inlet valve member. The control valve is operated by external pressure on a knob 19 acting through a spring 20 on the piston 15.
