Abstract
606,226. Electric immersion heaters. GRUBB, A. C., and AALBREGT, E. A. Jan. 11, 1946, No. 978. [Class 39(iii)] In an electric immersion heater one or more tubes a, b containing the heater elements are provided with a plurality of discs d to improve the heat distribution, the discs being spaced apart by tubular distance pieces a<1>, b<1> slid on to the tubes. Each disc may have an aperture to accommodate a themostatic tube c which is shorter than the heating tubes, the free aperture in the lower discs assisting in preventing steam pockets. The end discs and/or distance pieces may be welded in position. The Provisional Specification also describes the use of a helical fin having apertures for the respective tubes, tubular distance pieces being used between the coils of the fin for location purposes.
