[Class 139] In an alarm clock for use by blind persons the time graduations are in relief or are hollow and the means for setting the time of operation of the alarm are disposed concentrically of the time graduations. As shown in Fig. 1 a blind man's alarm clock comprises hands 4 and 5, rotatable by milled knob 15, of clearly different shape from one another and which co-operate with the scale 3a the numerals of which are hollow. Outside the time scale 3a is arranged a circle of push-pieces 2 which when in their operative or down position co-operate with a known type of .alarm mechanism. In operation the blind person by touch can easily determine which push-piece 2 to press down. As an aid there are also provided half-hour marks on the time scale 3a and the corresponding push-pieces 2 are of shorter length than the hour ones. The time scale may be on the casing as shown in dotted lines at 3b Fig. 1, or it may be on a ring of angular section carried by the case and disposed outside the push-pieces 2 (Fig. 7, not shown). Indicators 11 are also provided on time scale 3a next to numerals 3 and 9 so that the blind person may easily determine the axes of the clock hands. Specification 589,122 is referred to.
