[Classes 63 and 141] The invention comprises modifications in the jacket and hood portions of the protective clothing for seamen described in the parent Specification. As shown in Fig. 1 the jacket 10 is provided with a front opening closed by a sliding clasp fastener 79 covered by overlapping flaps 81, 82 secured by buttons. The fastener extends to the collar 20 which is tightened by a cord 21 the ends of which are preferably stowed into a pocket on the front flap 82. Lifting handles 87 for use in the case of rescue are provided on each side of the front and a small pocket with a quick-release cover may also be provided to receive the battery of a rescue signal lamp. An inner quilted lining 94, Fig. 2, has sleeves provided with wind cuffs 96 and openings 97, 98 to allow freedom of movement. The pockets are accessible through protected slits in the jacket. The hood, Fig. 3, is provided with a padded dome 102 and rubber temple pads 103. The lower edge of the front opening 104 is tensioned by cords 105 in channels behind chamois leather edging 106. The ends of the cords are tucked into a pocket 108 which also receives the ends of neck cords 109. Dependent straps 111 of elastic materials have adjustable buckles 112 for engaging hooks 86 on the front of the jacket. A protective flap 113, to cover the mouth, is arranged to swivel about a button 114, the other end of the flap being provided with an elastic strip engagable, when the flap is in use, with a hook at the other side of the opening and otherwise with a hook at the back of the hood.
