Abstract

603,347. Linear-dimension gauges. CATTLEY, A. Jan. 18, 1946, No. 1743. [Class 106 (ii)] A verner height gauge comprises a body 1 slidable upon a blade 2. Mounted in the body 1 is a pinion 8 with a shaft 9 to which is keyed a worm wheel 10 and a finger wheel which controls the rough adjustment. The pinion 8 engages with a rack 12 securely fastened to the blade 2. Also mounted in the body 1 is a sliding block 13 carrying a worm 14 rotated by a finger wheel 15. For fine control the worm 14 and worm wheel 10 are brought into mesh by means of a cam 16 and lever 17. The fine movement is controlled by the finger wheel 15. In a modification, the block 13 may be held in its operative position by a spring and in its inoperative position by a trigger catch.
