602,938. Milking-machines. FULLWOOD & BLAND, Ltd., R. J., and SKETT, H. E. Nov. 12, 1945, No. 30187. [Class 84] The pulsator of a milking machine comprises a flexible diaphragm 4, a flexible valve plate 9 and valve slides 7, 8, all on a common rod 5 loosely fitting its opening in the pulsator housing 3. As illustrated suction is applied along pipes 11 and 14 to one pair of teat-cup surrounds and holds the plate 9 against its seating 19. Air, from a port 16 reaches a compartment B and through a pipe 15, the other pair of teatcup surrounds. Suction through a pipe 17 exhausts a compartment A until the diaphragm 4 pulls the valve-rod 5 across to open passage 12 and close passage 11 to reverse the suction and air connections to the two sides of the diaphragm 4 and to the teat-cup surrounds. The rate of the pulsations is adjusted by a screw 18.
