Abstract

602,353. Mixing-machines. DARLING, G F. June 29, 1945, No. 16645. [Class 86] In a mixing-machine comprising an electric motor 1, Fig 1, driving a stirring member in the form of an inclined disc 4 carried by a shaft 3 mounted obliquely with respect to the drive shaft, the motor 1 is mounted in a frame 5 pivoted to or slidable on a supporting column 7 mounted on a base 11, and means are provided for maintaining the motor and the stirrer in any desired position with respect to the base. The motor 1 may be universally mounted in the frame 5, the arms 6 of which are pivotally mounted on the column 7, and springs 10 counter-balance the weight of the motor. Handles 19 enable an operator to raise or lower the mixing device and to move it about in the mixing vessel during mixing. Alternatively the motor 1 may be rigidly attached to a clamp adjustable in position on the column 7. In a further modification the motor is affixed to a member 23, Fig 4, comprising a pair of collars 24, 25, slidable on the column 7 and supported by a clamp 26 and a spring 32. The mixing device is lowered by the operation of a lever 29 pivoted to the member 23 and connected by a link 28 to the clamp 26. On releasing the lever 29 the device is returned to its upper position by the spring 32.
