Abstract
601,309. Fire-extinguishing ; flame-throwers. FRASER, R. P. June 19, 1944, No. 11653. [Classes 47 (ii) and 119] [Also in Group XI] In apparatus of the kind described in Speciflcations 583,025, 583,029 and 601,307 for projecting fire-extinguishing or combustible media in which the nozzle is controlled by an axially movable valve, means is provided beyond the nozzle to control the direction of projection. In one form, a tubular radial arm 19 is provided on a cylindrical member 20 rotatable on the valve casing 21 connected to a supply pipe 22, the valve 23 being opened by the main fluid pressure against springs 24 and fluid pressure from a pipe 25. In another form, the nozzle is provided with a rotatable extension the outer end of which is bent through a right angle. In a further form, the extension is flexible and is held in adjusted position by a link pivoted to its end and to a block slidable on a rod. A core of inflammable liquid may be supplied to the main jet through tubes 27, 28 and 29 and may be ignited by a spark gap.
