[Class 135] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a multi-cylinder liquid-fuel injection pump adapted to transmit substantially equal pressures to two different liquids, one fuel and the other a lubricant, the fuel is forced past a spring-pressed delivery valve 52 into a delivery chamber 53 from which it may be bye-passed to the suction chamber 49 via a port 58 through the action of a free piston 55 moving under the action of fuel pressure in the chamber 53 and oil pressure in a chamber 57, to which oil is admitted via a passage 44 and a piston valve 59 which is held in equilibrium by the oil pressure at one end and the action of a variable force determined by a pressure regulator which comprises a diaphragm 66 subject to differential air pressures in chambers 70, 71, deformation of the diaphragm being transmitted through levers 60, 61 with adjustable leverage to the piston valve 59.
