[Class 94(i)] A razor-blade package comprises a blade with at least one locating aperture and a stiff protective sheet wider and longer than the blade and formed with a pair of tongues passing through the aperture or each passing through an aperture so as to hold the blade temporarily to the sheet, the tongues facing away from each other towards the ends of the sheet, and the sheet being sufficiently stiff to be bowed away from the blade by pressure on its ends, so as to withdraw the tongues from overlapping engagement with the blade and release the blade from the sheet. A standard three-holed double-edged razor blade 31, Fig. 3, is secured to a longer and wider protective sheet 32 of stiff paper or card, having tongues 33. The tongues may be pushed up by pins, the blade lowered on to the sheet so that the tongues pass through the end holes of the blade, and the pins removed to allow the tongues to spring down on to the upper surface of the blade to locate it securely on the sheet. The blade can be released for placing on a razor by bowing the sheet by pressing in the ends. The package may be enclosed in an outer wrapper of material such as waxed paper. The wrapper folds may be secured by adhesive or may be self-adhesive and secured with or without heat. The wrapper may be folded round a plurality of sheets and blades to form a multiple package. A method of forming packages according to the invention comprises assembling on a support 68, Fig. 13, sheets 64 and blades 66 fed thereto in timed relationship from stacks 65, 67, and feeding the assembled blades and sheets in spaced longitudinal relationship on to an envelope strip 69 fed from a roll 70 between folding scrolls as 73, Fig. 16, which curl its edges over the edges of the assembled blades and sheets. The envelope 80 thus formed is transversely folded between each sheet, as by a pressing device comprising anvils 81, Fig. 21, and creasing members 82 on an oscillating arm 83, and a zig-zag pack is formed, from which individual blades may be removed by tearing or cutting. Perforations may be provided to facilitate removal. Alternatively the sheets may be spaced apart so that the envelope 80 may be severed into individual packages, the ends of each of which may be folded over. The packages described are designed to protect the cutting edges of the blades from contact with the wrapper.
