XXX] A universal joint connecting the extending screw 12 of a lifting jack (see Group XXX) to its operating mechanism comprises a hexagonal nut 35 secured to the screw engaging in a slightly larger hexagonal cup-shaped member 34 secured to a spindle 30 rotated through gear wheels 31, 26 by a handle 27.
