Abstract

599,718. Machinery guards. LITTLEJOHN, S. R. Oct. 30, 1945, No. 28804. [Class 80(iv)] A guard for a saw bench comprises means to enable the work to be viewed therethrough, means for illuminating the work, and means for adjusting the height of the guard above the saw bench. The guard consists of two lateral walls 1 secured together by bolts 3, and having inwardly extending flanges, a socket 4 to accommodate a rod 16, and a slot 6 to accommodate a riving knife 7. Cylindrical parts 8 of the guard carry an electric lamp holder 11 to illuminate the interior of the guard, which may be viewed through a transparent window 13 held by channels 12 which are clipped to the guard at 15. The rod 16 is secured in a sleeve 17 by a setscrew 18, the sleeve 17 being carried on a horizontal shaft 20 supported in brackets 21.
