Abstract
599,706. Shaft couplings. BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO., Ltd., and OWNER, F. M. July 24, 1945, No. 18951. [Class 80(ii)] In a shaft coupling of the type in which driving and driven shafts 5, 17 are directly connected by a plurality of teeth 8, 18 to allow axial movement, balls or rollers 15 are interposed between the teeth to minimise friction in such movement, the balls or rollers being held between a pair of concentric ring members 9, 16 to limit their radial movement. The balls or rollers are rotatably mounted on radial pins 14 carried by the ring 9 which is provided with a plurality of inwardly extending lugs 10, maintained in engagement with a locking ring 11 by springs 13 between the ring 9 and a flange 7 on the shaft 5.
