Abstract
598,840. Mixing-machines. BLENDING MACHINE CO., Ltd., TYLER, S., BOX, W. E., and CLARIDGE, J. T. Sept. 20, 1945, No. 24354. [Class 86] Powdered materials to be mixed are fed continuously through a hopper 6 and a perforated cylindrical screen 7 into the innermost cylinder A of three concentric rotatable drums A, B, C. The screen 7 is rotatable with the drum A and incorporates spiral feed vanes 7a. Spiral vanes A2, B2, C2. on the inner walls of the drums A, Band C, respectively, convey the material through the drums in succession ; and baffle plates A3, B3, C3, respectively, cause the materials to travel in stepped undulatory motion through each drum. From the outer drum C the mixture is fed by vanes C4 through an outlet 17 comprising a conical flow regulating member 18. The inner end of the drum A is mounted on rollers 8 carried in brackets on the drum B, the inner end of which is mounted on rollers 10 carried in brackets on the drum C. The latter is mounted on rollers 12, and the three drums are rotated by an electric motor 15 through interconnected spur gearing and a driving pinion 14, so that either the drums A, C rotate in a direction opposite to that of the drum B or all three drums rotate in the same direction. In an alternative construction the inner drums do not rotate independently, and the three drums are fixed to a common end plate.
