Abstract
597,629. Hydraulic machines. SANDOZ, V., and CHAMPOD, J. Jan. 21, 1944, No. 1202. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1943. [Class 69 (ii)] Hydraulic means for operating machine tool slides comprises two pistons R, S operated alternately and controlled by two slide valves M, N, each of which controls operation of the other by directing fluid to the end thereof; movement of the valves being effected by rise of pressure due to arrival of pistons at the ends of their strokes. The valve movements are opposed in each direction by braking devices I, J, K, L, each comprising adjustable spring-loaded balls d co-operating with the valve end. Piston speed may be varied by throttle valves in the supply and exhaust conduits 3, 5, 11. 12 while similar valves in the supply to the ends of the distributing valves enable the speed of reversal to be controlled. Piston strokes may be adjusted by stops A, C, B, D which may be screwed down to immobilise the pistons. The pistons may be mounted in machine tool slides at right angles and are actuated alternately to obtain a rectangular motion. Additional pistons may be provided and successive operation effected.
