597,212. Velocity-modulated tubes; frequency modulation ; wave - guides. STARR, A. T. March 10, 1944, No. 4540. [Classes 39 (i), 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] A short length of wave-guide 3 is coupled to the resonator 2 of a reflex velocity-modulated tube, and the frequency is continuously and cyclically varied by rotating within the guide a resonant ring 6 of the kind described in Specification 597,216. According to the Provisional Specification, the tuning plunger 4 may be replaced by a similar resonant ring, adjustable to effect tuning.
