Abstract

A pressure-sensitive adhesive mass comprises an elastomeric base which includes a greater proportion of a butadiene-styrene copolymer and a lesser proportion of polyisobutylene and a tackifying resin. Preferably, the elastomer comprises 20-25 per cent of copolymer and 5-15 per cent of polyisobutylene based on the weight of the mass. The resin may be a glyceryl ester of hydrogenated abietic acid, b -pinene polymer, or a coumarone-indene resin. Other substances which may be added are plasticisers such as low molecular weight polyisobutylenes, high viscosity white mineral oil and petrolatum; antioxidants such as ditertiaryamyl hydroquinone, ditetramethylene tetrasulphide, dipentamethylene tetrasulphide and mercaptobenzthiazole; zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, hydrated alumina, stearic acid and sulphur.
