Abstract
596,834. Swimming suits. SYMINGTON & CO., Ltd., R. & W.H., and STAMFORD, A. Aug. 8, 1945, No. 20334. [Class 141] A swimming costume consists of front and back sections having overlapping side edges with alternative co-operating fastening means so that the girth may be varied. As shown, the front section 1 has a central reinforcing panel 6 and is joined to the back section 2 by a crutch piece 5. Draw cords 9 are provided in the front, and shoulder straps 12 are secured to the front and pass through tunnels 13 at the back. A reinforced portion 3 on each side of the front section is provided with spaced hooks 15, each hook being engagable in one of a series of aligned eyelets in a diagonal strip 17 on one of the two reinforced marginal portions 4 in the back section. In a modification, single eyelets may be engaged by one of a series of hooks. Alternatively, buttons and series of buttonholes may be provided. The buttons or hooks may be adjustable in position, in which case they are each retained in one of a series of slits provided in a strip on one of the edges 4 by means of releasable spring clips, each button or hook being engageable in one or more buttonholes or eyelets in the marginal portion 3.
