Abstract

596,593. Wheeled hoes. RICE, G. Feb. 1, 1946, No. 2696/45. [Class 6 (i)] A power- or manually-driven wheeled hoe has one or more flat or domed horizontallyrotating discs each having a continuous peripheral cutting edge and each being fast with a rotary shaft projecting downward from the supporting carriage. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a horizontal rotary disc 22 is fixed on a shaft 23 geared to a motor 19 which is mounted on a platform supported by two horizontal side bars 9. The motor also drives the supporting wheel 14 by means of the belt 16. A depth regulator 27 is shown. The modification in Fig. 4 shows the addition of the tool discs 32 driven by gear-wheels from the motor shaft 18 and slidably mounted in slots 41 so that they are free to move under pressure against the action of the springs 42.
